With the congestion charge and the recent proposal to charge lorries which do not meet pollution standards £200 per day London has clearly been at the forefront of tackling the evils of congestion and pollution. Now New York seems to be closing. Mayor Bloomberg wants all taxis to go hybrid. To convince cabbies he is telling them that this will lead to a net benefit to them as they will save petrol....why aren't they using hybrids already one wonders?
